Life insurance
Life insurance to protect your family’s future
Term and permanent options, including indexed universal life, explained in plain English. We help you decide how much coverage makes sense and which type fits your goals and budget.
Types of life insurance
There is no single best policy. The right fit depends on how long you need coverage, your budget and whether you want the policy to build cash value.
Term life
Provides coverage for a set period, often 10, 20 or 30 years, and is usually the most affordable way to buy a large death benefit. It is a common choice for covering a mortgage and the years when children depend on your income.
Whole life
Permanent coverage designed to last your entire life, with level premiums and a guaranteed cash value component. Premiums are higher than term, and it is often used for lifelong needs such as final expenses or leaving an inheritance.
Indexed universal life (IUL)
Permanent coverage with flexible premiums and cash value growth linked to a market index, typically with a floor and a cap. IUL can be useful for some families, but it is more complex, and we walk through how the costs and crediting work before you decide.
Disability income
Your ability to earn an income may be your largest financial asset. Disability insurance can replace part of your paycheck if illness or injury keeps you from working, and we can quote it alongside life coverage.
How much coverage do you need?
A useful starting point is to add up what your family would need if your income stopped: paying off the mortgage and other debts, covering years of living expenses, and funding goals such as college. Then subtract existing savings and any coverage you already have through work. Employer life insurance is helpful, but it is often a modest amount and may not follow you if you change jobs.
We will help you work through those numbers without pressure. Some families find that a single term policy covers the essentials, while others combine term with a smaller permanent policy. We will compare options from the life carriers we work with and explain the trade-offs so the decision feels clear.

Why work with Prout Insurance Agency
Choice, not a single company
As an independent agency we are appointed with multiple insurance companies. That lets us compare coverage and price side by side instead of fitting you into one company’s products, and re-shop your policy if a renewal stops making sense.
Plain-English advice
We explain deductibles, exclusions and optional coverages before you buy, so there are fewer surprises later. You get a recommendation and the reasons behind it, and the final choice is always yours.
An agent who stays with you
When you add a driver, buy a new home or need help with a claim, you call the same Austin-based agency that set up your policy. We serve clients across Texas by phone, email and video.
“Dawn, Brittany, and Jeff have been wonderful to work with! I now have all of my policies with them including home, rentals, and auto because the service and value has been extraordinary.”
